I know. But I can easily convert svg to png and if one designs it from scratch it seems advisable to do the scalable version from the start. > Some extensions exist but are either > incomplete or no longer supported. Tk 8.6 will include PNG support, > without the need of installing an external lib. So the best is to wait > for Tk 8.6 do be out and wide spread. Then to switch all icons to PNG. The current code, I commited today, checks for existence of the lib and only then enables png icons. If the lib is not there only the gif versions show up. Its done the same way as for the piece sets. This is compatible as for now and we can drop the gif-versions later on. Also: not all gif icons are bad, we have a bunch of pretty nice ones which were designed with view colours in mind. (BTW: compatiblity was also the reason to set default piece set to alpha and not to Merida 1/2.) Additionally, it will take some time till Tk 8.6 is spread wide enough to convert the whole project to it. (Only now the first literature on 8.5 appears on the market, btw.) I hope we don't jump onto it as soon as it appears as this will rise quite some other complications on the users side than a not so nice icons. -- Kind regards, / War is Peace. | Freedom is Slavery.
