"Passing games from a database to the other": do you refer to copy a
game/set of games between two bases? If so: say you want to copy all
games by Anand from your large RefBase to your new AnandBase:
1) Open RefBase
2) Search for Anand by means of header search: all games by Anand are
now in your filter (you can check in the games list (ctrl-l))
3) Open AnandBase (or create it by File / New)
4) Open database switcher (ctrl-d)
5) click on RefBase, hold the left button down and drag to AnandBase
You might want to notice that you can set certain windows to auto open
on start up by Options/Startup. In Undocked mode they will remember
their size and position and just open where you left them. If you use
docked mode you may place them to your liking and store the layout (in
Options/Window). You may even create more than one layout to easily
switch between different setups.

You mean right mouse button? This is currently mapped to "back one
move", combinations with Ctrl/Shift call arrow/field markers.
Ctrl-E is indeed the easiest way to access it. And you may note that you
can just leave this window open as well. I admit that I found the key
combination quite convenient: as I want to key in text I don't want to
search for the mouse. Opinions?
BTW: IMHO Scids usage is very fast, much superior to any other program I
know of, if you know some keyboard shortcuts. IMHO it is a real
strength, that you don't have to use the mouse all the time.

You suggest to remove the tiny board representation? Hm, besides keying
in the bare commands this is the main interface for coloured markers and
arrows. (Beyond red, green, yellow arrows and full filled squares.) I
admit that I do not use markers too havily, but if I use them I usually
call up the comment editor. To solve the space "probelm" I just place
the window such that it shows only the entry box and the tiny board gets
covered by the main window. (I use classic mode.)

I'll note it as suggestion.

Actually, you can use _all_ PGN annotation symbols, not only Informator.
(You can key in ! !? and so on right away in the main board, btw.)
For the lesser known ones, you'll have to use the NAGs number, however.
A complete list is available in the help text "NAG annotation values".
Ie. you can use $140 for "with the idea of". Some also have a more
visual way ($140 can be entered as /\ or you can use the Unicode char
for the Laplace operator==greek Delta.) Unfortunately, I didn't document
those. Usual rule of thumb: use "ascii art". (_) gets properly
translated and so on. Noted for improvement in help.
But you're right, the symbols should be easier accessible. Till now,
however, I didn't find any good GUI solution to this. I checked what the
commercial competition did but none of their solutions are good and none
covers all about 180 NAG values possible in PGN standard, and thus in
Scid. Even the big shots seem to allow only for a very small subset. Do
you have a good idea how to allow for some 180 distinct values in such a
way that it's easy for the user to grasp where to search? I'm really
open to suggestions here, improvement is on my wishlist for some time.
(Ok, I now know the values of those mostly used by me, anyway ;)

Sorry?
