Al worked fine until the updates that were committed on Dec 20th.
That is:
filter.cpp 1.4
filter.h 1.4
tkscid.cpp 1.61
tkscid.h 1.18
and probably some other updates (how the <peep> to find this out?) broke
this part.
Before those it was fine.
Happy puzzling,
Joost.

Hi Gerd,
1) Just load a game, click on the white player's name and ask for his
report playing white.
Today a the wrong report on all games in the base is generated after a
long time, and the filter is not there...
2) Start setting the filter using header search for this player and
open the game list.
Ask for the same report. A report is produced after a very long time
(on all games in the base) and the filter is cleared.
All this worked perfectly (yet it always left the white player filter
open) on Dec 2nd 2010 (I already started a back trace). I will go up a
bit further in time and see precisely where it went wrong, although I
expect some problems as it seems that the filter code came into the
archive in several updates...
I hope this description is sufficiently precise.
Cheers,
Joost.

Hi,
to be sure that we speak about the same follow up, please tell me as
exact as possible what you tried. I am not an experienced scid user
and use mostly the main functionality. What I changed with filters
had a impact only if tree is open and filter is set. Lateron
Alexander changed something to reset the filter for his
correspondence module. If there is a problem, it is easy solvable. It
may be independent to the one described below.

wrong data?
Let me say I really suspect a filter operation.
1) Couple of weeks back the player report worked flawlessly. Cannot
make a firm statement as to the precise date, though.
2) When I first set a filter on "the white player" - so only his
white games are in the game list, and then run the player report, a
report comes out (after many++ minutes, indeed) but it is a report on
all games in the dbase; besides that, the filter in the game list is
cleared at the moment the report is shown - which I feel should not
be cleared.
Does this ring a bell?
I hope it does; if not I will start running a backtrace on the
archive to pinpoint when this has started - which is a hideous
operation in CVS. I really wished we had SVN if it comes this far :-).
Cheers,
Joost.

Hello,
I checked the following: Open a large database, select a game with a
known player, click on tools->player information, click on player
report and select the player.
The program runs into trouble, because the heap is overwritten by
somebody when the report is generated. At this time the two progress
bars are already done. I called this with the initial position, so no
filter was involved.
I think scid has some memory problems. I was already surprised when I
saw that non standard tags are not freed at the beginning of
game::decode(). I am optimistic and believe that something in this
report methods is guilty, because then the rest is not impacted.
Otherwise I don't know. Even if I am right, it is no fun.

Hi Axel,
You having spotted this: The player report functionality seems
entirely broken at my end (using a HUGE database).
It does not complete at all :-(
Gents, another side-effect of the recent filter-thingy?
Cheers,
Joost.

Hi all,
today I compiled SCID from CVS to check the strg+c fix issued earlier -
it works excellently, thx!
Now that I migrated (finally) completely over to SCID, I wanted to check
the player report feature. I choose LD Nisipeanu and wanted to create a
report with him playing the white pieces. I got a result, but not quite
what I expected - please check the attachment.
Any ideas what went wrong?
Regards
Axel
