Hmmm... do you have the Xorg development packages installed ?
I think they're called "xorg-dev" or "xorg-devel"
What does "find /usr -name libX11.so" give ?
I also remember Ubuntu are including wayland...an X replacement shortly.
(Imho they've lost the plot, thinking about replacing X).
