Hi,
I am having trouble installing SCID on my Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3,
despite following the instructions here:
http://sourceforge.net/p/scid/wiki/CompileScid/. I would very much
appreciate if you could please help me get it to work. Thank you in advance.
I already have Apple XCode and the Command Line Tools downloaded. So I
simply I downloaded Scid-4.5.2.zip, unzipped it, cd'ed into the directory,
then executed:
*$ ./configure*
This gives the following output, which looks good to me.
*configure: Makefile configuration program for Scid*
* Tcl/Tk version: 8.6*
* Your operating system is: Darwin 14.3.0*
* Location of Tcl/Tk frameworks: /Library/Frameworks*
* Checking if your system already has zlib installed: yes.*
* Using Makefile.conf.*
*The Makefile configured for your system was written.*
*Multi-threading enabled (if you have problems try ./configure THREADS="").*
*Now just type "make" to compile Scid.*
*$ make install*
This gives me a lot of compiler-warning junk, followed by the following
error:
*sed: RE error: illegal byte sequence*
*make: *** [install_mac] Error 1*
At this point, the directory dist/ has been created, as desired. However,
when I open dist/Scid.app, it fails to open. It gives the following error
message:
*The application cannot be opened because its executable is missing.*
What do I do to fix this?
Best,
Jason Altschuler
