Hi Mayuresh, Welcome! I had the same problem when I joined the list, and solved it the same way you did. Maybe it's an anti-spam measure? :)
What Maurice wrote was correct, except I would have said (a) OR (b). You could import and convert (read-write), or open directly as pgn (read-only, but not obvious that it's read-only). As always, backup your pgn file first. And be aware when you do an Import, Scid puts the games in the currently open database (or in the always-open clipbase).
