I've checked in revision #103. The most important changes:
- I've integrated the character set detection library from Mozilla/Firefox.
Now the character encoding will be auto-detected, but the user may choose
manually a different encoding if the auto-detection fails. Hopefully this
library will do a good job, and the user does not have to guess the right
character encoding (which is quite annoying). This treatment has one
drawback: the namebase has to be processed twice, this means the loading
time of a database is slower. But I think this is not important because:
1. Only CBH and SI4 databases are affected (Scidb is designed for his
own database format SCI).
2. Opening a database from the history is not affected, because the
history does already know the encoding (this means that generally
only the first opening is slower).
- I've fixed a crash (bug item #3411200) which occurred only one some systems.
- Compile error from revision #101 fixed. I'm working on a 32 bit platform,
and on 64 bit platforms the compiler may complain 64 bit related errors.
But I think I've found a way to emulate the compilation on a 64 bit
machine. In the future Scidb should compile without any trouble on 64 bit
platforms (hopefully!).
Have a nice time!
Gregor
PS: Giovanni and Fernando, please look at the language files. There are only
a few changes, tagged with NEW.
