Michael,  I just picked up a book titled One-Minute Readings, Issues in 
Science, Technology and Society, Author:  Richard F. Brinckerhoff, 
published by Addison-Wesley, c1992, 136 pages and has short articles on 
72 different issues.  As the book states in the introduction, "this book 
is full of questions but... none of the questions have any correct 
answers.  Your teacher doesn't have any either.  all of the questions 
ask your opinion and are open to argument among your classmates, friends 
and family.  most of the questions will give you a new slant on the 
science course you are taking.  most of the questions deal with hot 
issues you are learning about through the newspaper, magazines, and 
TV."  Topics are classified into categories of biology, chemistry, 
physics, earth science, and social science (includes history, government 
and economics).   I picked up this copy at the Science Store at the NSTA 
Regional Convention in Phoenix.  Hope this helps.  ***TOM***
