Kindra Braunn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked me to forward this message to the CPS Science list. -ML Tonight in our MINT (new teachers) meeting, a few teachers brought up the idea of talking children on a "nature walk" to collect leaves for classifying, graphing, etc., and I warned them all... Another teacher and I once went on a recycling walk (to collect garbage for graphing purposes/studying patterns of waste) and one of the students (in a NICE area of town on Lake Shore Drive) found a hypodermic needle on school grounds. Needless to say, this led to some very important discussions on what we pick up, and what we tell teachers about, needles, etc... So, just a warning for all those going on walks outside, playgrounds, etc... -- This is the CPS Science Teacher List.
