GRADUATE PROGRAM AT ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY:

Arizona State University offers a new summer program of graduate courses
for inservice high school physics and physical science teachers. It can
lead to a Master of Natural Science degree. Courses are in three
categories: physics pedagogy, interdisciplinary science, and contemporary
physics. Participants will be involved in a collaborative learning
community.
Two summer sessions are June 11-29 and July 2 - Aug. 3. The program
includes Modeling Workshops in mechanics and second semester content on
June 11-29. A pending grant may defray costs. Contact Jane Jackson, Dept.
of Physics, Arizona State University, Tempe AZ 85287-1504;

MODELING WORKSHOPS NATIONWIDE:

Modeling Workshops in physics and physical science will be held this summer
at Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina,
Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Utah. Graduate credit is available at most
locations. In 2001 the U.S. Department of Education designated the Modeling
Instruction Program as an exemplary K-12 science education programs. For
information on all Modeling Workshops, visit http://modeling.asu.edu.

Dear Jane,
Due to the small number of participants we had in last summer's workshop, we
had some funds left over from the grant. Therefore, we are offering a 5 day
Modeling physics workshop for new participants in Spearfish on July 9-13.
