MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT:    CASE exam item writers

The Bureau of Student Assessment is hiring teachers to write and revise
items for the CASE exam in the following subject areas: Algebra, Geometry,
English I and II, Biology, Environmental Science, Earth and Space Sciences,
Physics, Chemistry, World Studies, and United States History.

Item writing will begin late this spring or early this summer, depending on
the subject area you are writing for. The vast majority of work that is
required can be completed at home. Item writers will be required though to
meet once a week with other CASE item writers for approximately six to eight
weeks.  Item writers selected will be compensated at the flat rate of
$3,500.00 per subject.

Please duplicate the enclosed flier and forward a copy of it to each member
in your department. Anyone interested in becoming a CASE exam item writer
should simply detach the bottom portion of the flier and fax it to the
Bureau of Student Assessment as soon as possible to request an application.

a listing of the CASE exam coordinators and their e-mail addresses are
provided below.
