ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

The Cook County Farm Bureau Agriculture In The Classroom program is
announcing two opportunities for elementary educators.

1) Classroom presentations

The Cook County Farm Bureau offers FREE one-hour presentations to fourth
grade classrooms. The lesson gives students an overview of agriculture
in the 21st century, includes an overview of the many careers for urbanites
in the agribusiness sector, brings to the students' attention the ways
agriculture touches their lives everyday, and involves the students in
interactive activities. At the completion of the lesson, each student
receives a treat, and the teacher receives an entire packet of useful
materials for the classroom.

This program is available for Spring, 2001, starting immediately.

2) A 3-hour graduate course

During the week of August 6-10, 2001, a three-hour graduate course through
Western Illinois University will be held in the Cook County Farm Bureau
building. The complete cost for the course is $318.99. A $200 stipend is
paid to participants (who teach in Cook County) upon successful completion of
the course.

Only 20 participants can be accepted into this course! April 30, 2001 is the
deadline for registration.

Call Gail Petersdorff at 708-354-FARM (3276) for additional information and
brochures.
