Description:����� William H. Watkins' White Architects of Black Education examines education,������������������������ politics, and race in America during the last 150 years.� He explores the ideas, activities, and beliefs of some of the more powerful men and institutions that created segregated and inferior education for African-Americans from the end of the Civil War until the late 20th century.� His thesis argues that the intellectual management and control of Blacks through education stand at the crossroads of American history and politics.
Biography:������� William� H."Bill" Watkins is currently a faculty member in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.� He was born in Harlem and was reared in South-Central, Los Angeles.� He received a bachelors degree in Political Science and Pre-Law from California State University.� He moved to Chicago and taught high school while earning a Master of Education from the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus.� Upon completing the Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis / Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he received an appointment from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where he taught for several years. An outstanding writer, lecturer, and a lifelong political activist, Mr. Watkins has dedicated himself to the pursuit of racial equality and economic justice for all people.
