Loyola University of Chicago will be conducting Advanced Placement Workshops in both
biology and chemistry during the Summer 2001 on our Lakeshore Campus. These workshops
are an excellent opportunity for high schools to develop an Advanced Placement Program
or expand an existing one. In addition, participating teachers will be provided
essential professional development and will have the option of receiving either six
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or one graduate credit hour in biology or chemistry.
Each workshop will feature daily content lectures, hands-on experience with AP labs,
review of past AP exams and guidance in establishing and improving AP programs. Our
staff includes both highly qualified AP teachers who have considerable experience
facilitating AP workshops and Loyola Faculty from the Departments of Biology and
Chemistry. Keynote lectures will be presented by Loyola researchers highlighting
contemporary issues in their area of expertise.
Below you will find fliers and registration forms for both workshops. Please note
that the deadline for registration is May 15, 2001. If you have any questions
regarding this program you may contact Ada Steenken in the College of Arts and
Sciences (773) 508-3504.
