Central Park Chicago, IL 60624 Tel: 773.638.1766 x 20 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance Position Description Title: Vocational Training Specialist Purpose: To implement and evaluate a comprehensive horticulture vocational training program that serves people and facilities working with people with disabilities and seniors in the Chicago area. Particular focus of these programs is on training people with disabilities in basic horticulture skills in an effort to gain entry into the greening industry. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assist with development of a quality horticultural training program that serves to educate people with disabilities in basic horticulture skills. 2. Work with chosen partners for the training program. This includes working with industry reps to locate possible job sites for program graduates, and researching new partners for inclusion into the training program. 3. Implement, evaluate and update vocational training program on a regular basis. 4. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of horticultural activities that bring the world of plants and nature alive in a therapeutic setting for seniors and people with disabilities. This could include programs in the Sensory Garden, inside the Conservatory, and in the Demonstration Garden, as well as off-site locations. 5. Create single visit brochure of therapeutic activities. 6. Schedule and implement single visit therapeutic programs. 7. Work with Coordinator of Horticulture Programs to develop short and long range program goals, and to develop and implement an annual work plan. 8. Records and track program utilization. Compiles and furnishes these figures for reports (board, donor, etc.). 9. Performs other duties as assigned.
