Dunes 102: Geology Rocks October 5-6
A hands-on workshop for teachers and educators
` Educators are invited to participate in this overnight workshop featuring
professional geologists and a variety of hands-on geology activities to use
in the classroom. Session begins at 4 p.m., Friday and continues through 8
p.m. Saturday. The dunes region will be the backdrop for this adventure
through time as participants learn about glacial history, soils, Great
Lakes formation and much, much more.
` Participants can earn 1 hr. of graduate credit through Indiana University
Northwest. Contact Dr. Ken Schoon at 219-980-7766 for more information.
` Registration is limited so call the IDELC at 219-395-9555 to receive a
registration packet and reserve a spot. Cost of the workshop is $62 and
includes meals, lodging and lots of materials! Teachers can receive a
scholarship for up to 80 percent of the workshop cost if they are willing
to participate in our evaluation.
