NSTA is alerting its members, potential members, convention registrants,
book purchasers, and others that there may be delays in crediting payments
sent through the mail. This is due to the situation at the Brentwood mail
processing center in Washington, DC, where NSTA receives mail containing
orders and payments.

The Brentwood facility was closed on Sunday, October 21, 2001, due to the
presence of anthrax spores in the mail sorting area. Anthrax is suspected in
the deaths of two mail handlers.

For those wishing to join NSTA, renew membership, register for a
convention, or purchase books or other products, please be advised that
credit card processing (either online, by phone, or by fax) is the best way
to guarantee speedy processing of your order until normal operations resume
at the Brentwood facility. Purchase orders should be faxed instead of mailed
to speed processing. Unfortunately, NSTA has no way of knowing if your mail
to NSTA is being detained at the Brentwood Post Office.

If you have concerns about whether your check has reached us and your
payment for an NSTA program or product has been credited, please contact us
by e-mail or telephone.

If you have already registered for an NSTA convention and have not yet
received your confirmation, please feel free to contact our service team in
Information Center at (800) 722-NSTA. They can let you know if you have been
registered for the convention. They will also be able to tell you if your
membership has been processed. If you have concerns about your publications
order, call (800)277-5300 and a customer service represenative can assist
