Hello Arul,

prefdm is the "preferred display manager". This only occurs if you are
booting into run level 5 (graphics mode).

Take a look at /etc/init/prefdm.conf

Subject: With SL 6.3 getting init:prefdm respawning too fast, stopped
error
Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2013 02:32:06 -0400

Hi All,

I have a system which is based on SL 6.3

With this, I get the following error “init:prefdm respawning too fast,
stopped”

Any idea how to recover from this error?

Regards,

Arul
