The following announcement appears on the wholly owned IBM subsidiary web site:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 beta

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 provides a consistent foundation for enterprise
hybrid cloud, delivering any application on any footprint at any time. The
public beta is now open.

End quote.

How soon may we expect a SL8 beta? How long after RHEL8 is licensed for fee in
production will a licensed for free SL8 appear?

Aside: there was a stated concern on this list that IBM may elect not to
distribute without any licensing fee the full buildable source(s) of EL,
including patches/updates af some time in the future. Is such a move allowed
under the Linux, GPL, etc., licenses?

Thanks,

Yasha Karant
