That sysctl didn't used to be available -- well I can't find it on SL308 systems.

The system we found this problem on is a SuSE 9.3 install.

Also I forgot to note that this doesn't happen with ssh.

Another good reason to drop rsh... :-)
Yes indeed. On this system the workaround we have is to use ssh to start parallel jobs (HP version of MPI can be set to use rsh or ssh)
