I've been using RHEL, and am looking to move to SL because of the built-in OpenAFS and freedom from Red Hat's "installation numbers" and arbitrary server/client dichotomy. It also looks like combining SL with a repository such as Dag's could give a range of available packages comparable to Debian/Ubuntu. Is anyone doing this, and how well does it work?
We already provide a provide /etc/yum.repo.d/ entries for dag and atrpms. They are enabled by default. One can change the default of course.
So installing any of their packages is as easy as yum --enablerepo=dag install ... -Connie Sieh
