c) if the final build needs to be moved or goes to the "right" place
(i.e. where the NVIDIA package expects it to be).

Hi Luis,
You don't really need to build the kernel to use the nvidia driver, you just
need the header files.
yum install kernel-devel
And, as long as you have the compilers installed as well, you should be able to
compile your nvidia drivers.
