NetReg is designed for exactly that purpose and has a reasonably large and active support community. See: http://netreg.sourceforge.net/ and http://www.usenix.org/publications/library/proceedings/lisa99/full_papers/valian/valian_html/index.html

For wireless-specific activity, try: nocat.net (http://nocat.net), as its a more focused problem then just network registration.

... and you can google to get situations that match yours even more closely, too.

Quoting "Eve V. E. Kovacs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hi,
We are looking for a package that will require users to register
(ie supply a name etc) and then assign a dhcp address.
With our present dhcp server, we have no way to identify who is connected
to our network, particulary if they are using a wireless access point.

Does anyone know of a pacjage like this?

Thanks,
Eve
