Further research across the Web shows this to be a regression from earlier
kernels(?) See http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/7/16/33 - he lists 2.6.21 and 2.6.22
even tho I'm running 2.6.9 (?)
[FWIW, /var/log/messages clearly shows the successful transition of the USB
flash memory stick from MAC OS X (via Parallels Desktop VM switch) to SL. But
after HAL introduces the USB device to my 2.6.9 based kernel the "screaming
interrupt" messages are logged and the USB device-attach is backed out]

Using 2.6.9-55.0.6.EL on MacBook Pro under Parallel Desktop VM.
/var/log/messages show USB flash drive transition from MAC OS X to SL,
but ~30 secs later get "irq 9: nobody cared!..." message and IRQ #9 disabled.
Have set acpi=off in /boot/grub/grub.conf; no change. Is this a known prob?
Has anyone else experienced this, and have a solution?
TIA,
