Hi All,

it just turned out that the new samba needs the krb5 update from 5.1 to work correctly, at least when dealing with AD:
It seems that our 4.4 systems were impacted by the samba upgrade
(3.0.25b-1.el4.2).
Authentication is done against an AD, and things started going bad on
friday after
the nightly update.
We've downgraded samba to the previous version, blocked automated
updates, and
we will try to find a real solution in the near future.

net join -S XXXXXXXX -U YYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYY's password: net: relocation error: net: symbol
krb5_get_init_creds_opt_alloc, version krb5_3_MIT not defined in file
libkrb5.so.3 with link time reference

This was on a yum-updated SL5.0 system (the latest updates for openldap, net-snmp, pcre, perl und util-linux are pending on this host, but that shouldn't matter).

One remedy ist to install the krb5 packages from 5.1. There may be others.

BTW, on x86_64 this will also require keyutils-libs.i386 in the repository which TUV has in there in 5.1 but not in 5.0 (and consequently SL5.0 doesn't have it either).

We have *not* checked extensively for side effects of upgrading krb5 from 1.5 to 1.6 on SL5.0 without applying all the other 5.1 updates.

Cheers,
    Stephan
