Hi, I have a problem with an upgrade in scientific linux and i am a new user so i would like some help. I did an upgrade from SE 3x to SE4.5 but in the log in screen when i put my user and password the system responds "mount unknown" and prompts me again to place user and pass.
The upgrade was done with anaconda installer(from the distribution CD's),I placed the 1st CD and i chose upgrade in the same partion where the SE 3 was. Then i chose update GRUB and then installation began normally ,when the installation was finished I reboot the system and whereas the kernel is booted the system responds "mount unknown" and prompts me again to place user and pass. To see what the problem was i installed the SE 4.5 liveCD and mounted the hard drive and all the files were there! The same with linux rescue. I also checked a false user and pass and the response was correct "incorrect login",so it recognizes my account. What should i check fstab?GRUB? The PC consists of 3 hdds ,an IDE ATA WD 80 GB which has the SE partion and 2 SATA drivers with data which SE doesn't recognize(not much of a problem if i can surpass the login problem i can mount these manually ). I don't have the root password since the computer is in a lab but my account has sudo ^ command privilege. Thank you in advance.
