I've just performed the update to the latest packages released on a SL4.5

/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.7034: command substitution: line 63: syntax error: unexpected

Nothing new to see here, please move on. The java packages have been
traditionally
mispackaged. They do not have signatures and the install/remove scriptlets barf.
The only hope is for the SL maintainers to step in and cleanup the mess.
That's actually what this was. A cleanup.
We use the actual rpm's from Sun (yes, with permission). The
j2sdk-1.4.2 rpm is ... well it's not pretty. It did alot of crazy
things, and this update replaces it with jdk-1.5.0, which is alot better.
Anyway, that error is a normal error from the j2sdk when it is uninstalled.
