as Akemi suggested was very useful. I did:
1) wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-centos
It download an rmp file: skype-2.0.0.43-centos.i586.rpm
2) yum localinstall skype-2.0.0.43-centos.i586.rpm
This will install skype with all dependencies
If you install with "rpm -Uvh skype-2.0.0.43-centos.i586.rpm" , there are
a lot of dependencies.

This is why I got stuck at fc3. If you download the static version you
find the current one needs libsigc and as I recall even if you find a
workable libsigc there are still issues (maybe unique to x86_64). If
you find a suitable solution spread it around.
