Adding a bit of information to previous mail..................I tried to test Ubuntu on my laptop and found that Ethernet Card sky2 is working fine and I was able to access internet on it. Then I tried to check whether that particular card is detected in SLC 5.0 installation and found that, it is also there. But when I tried to configure it it did not work. I am wondering now.................why is this so.Suneel
--- Begin Message ---Hi, I need to install few softwares on my laptop to make it a like an independent clued0 type of system. All these things need Scientific Linux on it( as guided by the system administrators). It will be very great if I succeed in getting this work properly with your nice help. I had also tried to install SL 4.5 and SLC 3 were could do that as the later version was not able to detect the hardware driver (do not know what does that means) whereas the other one crashed and showed problems with vista. I have also installed ROOT on it and its working fine.Kindly guide me accordingly.
