Hello,

Recently, I noticed the following change on an SL4.5 box :

Modified object name: /dev/tty1
Property: Expected Observed ------------- ----------- ----------- * Mode crw------- crw--w---- * GID root (0) tty (5)

The date of the file /dev/tty1 corresponds to the time at which I
logged as root and updated packages with 'yum install packages' but
the packages are actually a set of certificates of CAs and are not
supposed to have scripts. Moreover, apparently, more than one
/dev/tty* device have "tty" as a group owner and the permissions
are not always the same :

[root]# ls -als /dev/tty*
0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 5, 0 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 0 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty0
0 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 1 May 20 08:00 /dev/tty1
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 10 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty10
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 11 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty11
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 12 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty12
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 13 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty13
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 14 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty14
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 15 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty15
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 16 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty16
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 17 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty17
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 18 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty18
0 crw-rw---- 1 root tty 4, 19 Apr 14 20:28 /dev/tty19
0 crw------- 1 root root 4, 2 Apr 14 18:29 /dev/tty2

=> Any explanation for this ?

Thanks.

JM
