Hi Try using help when you pull down the System Admin Network menu -- It will guide you to an installation daemon. I can try to give you more details (although this morning I notice all menus vanished. Probably an update overnight...)
I know that linux users at Fermilab were surprised by this method so perhaps it is not well-publicized. With Fermi SL5.2 I was able to install wireless easily with that after reading about the only way to do it was to rebuid kernels etc. Let me know if you need more info Rick On Mon, 21 Jul 2008 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Hi All > I have installed SL 5 with dual booting on my Acer Aspire 4710 laptop. > In Window Vista my wireless network is working fine.It is showing Intel(R) > PRO/Wireless 3945BG wireless card. > But in linux platform when I try to activate wireless network through > network configuration panel it give this error > 3c501 device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization. > please suggest that how to proceed to troubleshoot the problem > Thanks > Kashif > ***************************** Dr. Richard St. Denis,Dept. of Phys.& Astr., Glasgow University Glasgow G12 8QQ; United Kingdom; UK Phone: [44] (141) 330 5887 UK Fax : [44] (141) 330 5881 ====================================== FermiLab PO Box 500; MS 318 Batavia, Illinois 60510 USA FNAL Phone: [00] 1-630-840-2943 FNAL Fax: [00] 1-630-840-2968
