Hi Aram,

It could be your access point. My Lenovo X61 laptop with 4965 wireless card will not talk to my home Adaptec access point, but works fine if I bring it into work and use our Cisco kit. So I have to use a USB plug in card at home.

Regards,
Rhys

Hi Akemi,

Unfortunately, it does not work out of the box in SL5.1. It initially worked about half
the time with "alias wlan0 iwl4965" added to modprobe.conf, but after the
latest updates, it doesn't work at all. I do have Network Manager enabled, but all it
sees is the wired connection.

Thank you for the link to the forum; it looks like a promising place to search.

Hi,

For the past couple of weeks, I have been trying to get my Intel 4965AGN card
working on SL5.1 (kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5). Today I noticed that the driver
responsible for it, iwl4965, is blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist with
the following comment:

# don't load iwl4965 by default, bug 245379

Does anyone know what this "bug 245379" is and how to get the card to work? I tried
commenting out the blacklist statement, but it does not help (it tells me "iwl4965 device
wlan0 does not seem to be present" either way).

According to this CentOS wiki, 4965AGN seems to work "out of box":

You will find more info if you search the CentOS forums for "4965"
