Hello,

Someone knows why the package openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.1.i386.rpm
was removed in favor of openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.el4_6.1.i386.rpm
in the SL4.3 repository (date is 22/09/2008) ?

Thanks.

JM

Yes
openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.el4_6.1 is the name that RedHat uses, and is the name that is in SLF 4.7. It is the same rpm in every way, but the name. When RedHat started putting the %{dist} variable into their rpm names, it took us a while to believe that was what they were really going to settle on. (There were two other distribution naming schemes RedHat used before this, so we thought this one would only last a month or two.) As a result, we ended up with several security updates with poor names. This repository change was part of the update scheme that we are putting in place to allow you to actually update those poorly named rpm's.
