I'm using SL5.3 on DELL XPS 1530 laptop that comes with ALPS touchpad. Touching it brings disastrous uncontrolled things to happen on the screen . The fix is known: boot command should be augmented by adding "i8042.nomux=1". That works if I add it into the grub.conf, but only at the initial boot. Problems reemerge when waking up from suspend or hibernate.
Whoever is responsible: for god's sake, please fix the kernel accordingly . Many thanks in advance !! - Anatoly
