only in respect that it gives a different md5sum result;

$ sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin

which i should have mentioned in 1st post. my bad. :/

possibly i should have added a question of;

'has anyone successfully installed latest version of google earth?'.

and that i ran into checksum problems with previous versions.
