Yes, when I say "vanilla kernel" I mean "kernel.org kernel" and the
versions are: any version at or around 2.6.24 through the present (2.6.30.5)

I assume by this you are talking about a kernel.org kernel. Can you be
more specific about the version.

drive then add/remove different module bay hard drives (without
rebooting!). I can not get the SL kernel to do this. I've tried adding
the kernel parameter "combined_mode=libata" but that does not work :(
Does anyone know the right combination of kernel parameters to use?
