Done

Try doing a

  yum install openssl097a.i386

on a 64 bit SLF5, you will get it.

p.s. We are so fast, that we've even managed to get it into RHEL's 5.4 beta. :)

Dear Scientific Linux maintainers.

Recently CMS started to move to SL5 and we noticed that one of the compatibility libraries we rely on does not come in the 32bit flavor in the SL5 64-bit distribution.

The RPM name is:
openssl097a-0.9.7a <http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/x86_64/SL/openssl097a-0.9.7a-9.el5_2.1.x86_64.rpm>

The 64 bit repository contains only the 64 bit version:
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/x86_64/SL/

One needs to get the 32-bit version from the 32-bit repository
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/53/i386/SL/
which is very annoying, since it cannot be done easily with yum.

Would it be possible to fix this?
And possibly push the change to Red Hat as well, so that it gets fix in all RH-clones (like CentOS)?

Thanks,
