kernel from the 5x series. 2.6.18-194xxxx which was released just
recently.

This is usually a BIOS configuration issue. Go into your BIOS settings
and see how your "Drive Configuration" is setup. Try "Legacy" type
settings first. Then I'd recommend "Native/IDE". I recall having
problems with "Native/AHCI" in the past.
