2 - You can make the Install DVD so that it will force the installer to use your kickstart file. That way they will get the same set of packages that you selected for them.
I was also thinking this, as far as I know, you can actually have scripts run from this can you not? I am not entirely familiar with kickstart but I have used it a number of occasions and it made multiple installations AMAZINGLY easy.
