Hi All,

Feeling out SL6 right now; so far it is quite impressive. One thing I
have
searched for in vain is an updater icon for the KDE desktop. Gnome has
the
Update Applet, but I can't find such a thing for KDE. I find having the
visual reminder there helps me stay on top of updates and would really
like
to have an option for KDE.

Thanks for any insights!

I'm not positive about this, but I *think* PackageKit-qt is supposed to do
that.
That's where I would start.

I smell a bug ...

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676816

There seems to be a workaround.

Akemi

Wow, that is very familiar.
We had the same issue with the "Add/Remove Software" being taken out of the
menu. We fixed that in SL_desktop_tweaks.

Looking through the /etc/xdg/autostart it seems we have two applets defined
not to start in KDE.

# pwd
/etc/xdg/autostart
# grep NotShowIn *
gpk-update-icon.desktop:NotShowIn=KDE;
print-applet.desktop:NotShowIn=KDE;

If we are going to fix the one, we should fix them both.

yes.

Or, are these items that people are happy not to have in KDE?

Fix it.
