Looks like someone already faced the lvm issues /google/ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=652417 quoting : "lvm vgchange -an" is a solution /google / Regards De : [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] De la part de SCHAER Frederic Envoyé : jeudi 21 juillet 2011 17:54 À : [email protected] Objet : sl6 install issues Hi, I am facing weird SL6 install issues : using quattor, I did configure an SL6 machine and tried to have it installed with no luck. - First of all : appending telnet to the kernel/initrd in the PXE config does not work anymore : node starts installation and does not start a telnet server for us to watch the installation too bad :( - Then, during the installation process, if I dont play with fdisk in a modified KS file, some volume groups wont be created/visible because of a resource or device busy issue, and because partition tables are then obsolete but I did fix that temporarily - But *then*, in the %pre phase, lvm volumes are created, ext3 partitions are created, and I did connect on the node during the installation and could check that /dev/mapper was populated (after I added some sleeps and some vgchange ay in the KS file) o BUT after that, when anaconda mounts the install partitions and starts installing rpms, lvm volumes do disappear ! § There is nothing left in /dev/mapper except the control file § The lvm volumes are not mounted § Listing the volumes using lvm lvdisplay --verbose does show the volumes as available § The /mnt/sysimage/etc/fstab does not contain any reference to the lvm volumes § I did notice some error on some virtual console, I do not know if its related (maybe but how and why ?) · program.log:17:22:03,042 ERROR : swapoff: /etc/fstab: open failed: No such file or directory o And install finally fails because / is too small I did capture all the install files located under /tmp during the install time, and can send them to the list if needed (and I did add a set x at the beginning of the %pre script). Has anybody faced (and solved) this issue already ? Thanks && regards Frederic Schaer P.S : Im going to leave for 2 weeks, but I hope someone can provide me with suggestions by the time I come back !
