Hi, Thanks Hiisi for your reply. I don't think I ever realised that someone had replied until a few days ago.
So I am still having trouble with Flash Audio in Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110621 Red Hat/3.6-1.el5_6 Firefox/3.6.18). Here is an explanation of all that I have tried and I hope to get some more help as I really don't know how to proceed. I don't read shell so good, so apologies if I am missing something obvious. I checked that my system sounds work (by using the "AALC662 rev 1 analog" device). Then, I tried the steps in the link sent to me by Hiisi: 1) Followed the instructions here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flash#Enabling_Flash_plugin for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. For the 32-bit version, ============= This was the problematic step: su -c 'yum install nspluginwrapper alsa-plugins-pulseaudio flash-plugin' Loaded plugins: kernel-module Setting up Install Process Package nspluginwrapper-1.3.0-8.el5.x86_64 already installed and latest version Package nspluginwrapper-1.3.0-8.el5.i386 already installed and latest version --->No package alsa-plugins-pulseaudio available.<--- Package flash-plugin-10.3.181.34-release.i386 already installed and latest version Resolving Dependencies [output omitted] Error: Missing Dependency: libkdeui.so.5()(64bit) is needed by package flash-plugin-11.0.1.60-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 (rpmforge) Error: Missing Dependency: libkdecore.so.5()(64bit) is needed by package flash-plugin-11.0.1.60-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 (rpmforge) Error: Missing Dependency: libkutils.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package flash-plugin-11.0.1.60-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 (rpmforge) [/output omitted] As there was no "alsa-plugins-pulseaudio" plugin I did a manual yum search for "pulseaudio" which yielded no results, while I installed the ALSA plugins for both the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, as well as the ALSA-utils package. The last step in the sequence on the webpage yielded the following set of errors: su -c 'mozilla-plugin-config -i /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/*.so' *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 I then moved to the steps recommended for 64-bit architecture 64-bit (wrapped 32-bit) version =================== The first step yielded this result: # su -c 'yum install nspluginwrapper.{x86_64,i686} alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686 --disablerepo=adobe-linux-i386' No package nspluginwrapper.i686 available. No package alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686 available. As before, I don't know what to do about the "pulseaudio" plugin as I couldn't find it on yum, so I looked for the nspluginwrapper which I found and installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The last step of the 64-bit sequence lead to the same error as in the 32-bit case: # su -c 'mozilla-plugin-config -i' *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0 2) 64-bit trial version: ============ Downloaded the tarball (flashplayer11_b1_install_lin_64_071311.tar.gz) from Adobe, and followed the steps. Checked that "about:plugins" confirmed that Flash was installed: Shockwave Flash File: nswrapper_64_64.libflashplayer.so Version: Shockwave Flash 11.0 d1 MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes And yet, no sound on youtube videos! The video plays seamlessly by the way. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
