Hi All,

I am migrating from Virtual Box on my old server (CentOS 5.6 x32) to KVM on
my new server (SL6.1 x64).

Virtual box has a collection of drivers to assist the guest called
"Guest Additions".  These drives give you shared clipboard
and shared mouse, among other things.

Question: does KVM have a similar package of guest drivers?
I am specifically looking for mouse sharing and shared clipboard.
I am not sure if I need a special video driver as well.
The console interaction with KVM is VNC with delusions of integration.
If possible, I'd suggest that you use an actual X session or SSH
session, which is likely to work much better with your local
environment.

If you need re-connectable or shared X sessions with heavily optimized
network performance, consider using NX based solutions.

Hi Nico,

    I am confused.

I was viewing my VM's through "Applications -> System Tools -> Virtual Machine Manager".
The first VM I converted was a ReactOS VM from Virtual Box.  The keyboard worked, but the
mouse did not.  I had to constantly <clrl><alt<del> to activate my Xsceensaver to get my
mouse back.

Are you saying to get the M$ VM configured with the Virtual Machine Manager, then
install something like Ultra VNC server on it and let uVNC do clipboard and mouse
sharing with krdb (or some such)?  Is there some video driver I should be using in the guest?

My second attempt to convert my XP guest from Virtual Box bitched about my video
drivers (they were from Virtual Box's guest additions).  So, next attempt is to convert my
XP guest without the Guest Additions.

I think my knowledge of Virtual Box is hurting me in my transition to KVM.

Many thanks,
-T
