Nope.  From 'man yum'[1]:

        * localinstall rpmfile1 [rpmfile2] [...]
           (maintained for legacy reasons only - use install)

[1] Actually, that's from 'man yum' on a Fedora system. The SL6 yum package doesn't include a man page. Does that bug anybody else? 'yum --help' on SL6 doesn't include any mention of localinstall.
