Pat, don't worry about it too much. You guys do a good job, and
one of these things will happen once in a while no matter what.
Looking back, the previous "stuck" problem was with unsigned
java packages, and even that got resolved eventually.
If I were to read any lessons from the nfs-utils snafu, they would be:
a) to make bum packages "go away quietly" with minimum disruption,
work *with* the nightly yum updates, not against them.
b) remember to post announcements about package updates and
retractions to sl-errata.
I fully agree with A and B as a good target. Our internal process aims
for A and B but in the rush to get a fix, there was a botch. And in the
rush to fix the fix so that the fix can be fixed by this new fix, things
got a bit muddled (you don't want to see the flowchart I drew, its not
pretty).
As always, I count myself lucky to be a part of the SL community, some
mornings I just need my coffee before I start in on the email.
Apologies for the shortness of my earlier email - self += Caffeine; has
done wonders for my mood.
