rpmrebuild with optflags redefined

dear all

apologies if this question may appear bit lame, I ain't an 
expert

if I wanted to optimize compilation of the kernel with 
-mtune=native and was to use "optflags"
would it work?
do I need to export/define anything else compiler must know of?
