I am puzzled why SL does not come with a pre-made USB-stick installer. (DVD disks? In 2012? Seriously? At least they do not make us use paper tape or PDP-11 toggle-switches). Since all the wiki pages about installing live usb creators, etc bore me, I wrote my own instructions for creating a USB-bootable SL installer using the isolinux/extlinux boot loader. Go here: http://trshare.triumf.ca/~olchansk/linux/SL61-64-USBBOOT/AAA-README-USBBOOT (You will recognise this as the image of the PXE-bootable SL installer with the directory containing all the RPMs removed, and extlinux boot files added) (I hope some day the SL installer will learn how to install RPMs from a directory instead of from an ISO image. On this happy day we will gain the ability to customise the installer by adding and removing packages as we wish, without hassle. Note that the SL installer installs from a directory full of RPMs when booted from the network, but refuses to do so if booted from USB.
