Well, I've been plugging along and have at least got things into a semblance
of a working state for me. Notes are here:

I've managed to build hdf5, netcdf, netcdf-fortan, ncl, and WRF for openmpi
with the intel and pgf compilers. With all of the legal issues I'm not about
to start shipping binaries but maybe others will find it useful for building
packages at their site. Any and all contributions welcome.
