dump(8) and restore(8) are for the extended filesystems (ext2,3,4).
See xfsdump(8) and xfsrestore(8) for XFS. Please note that the
command-line options are different between the utilities.

Question: it I have a "dump" archive on an ext4 disk and
I want to "restore" some it its files to an XFS disk,
will "restore" do so as long as the source is on
an "ext" disk? Or does "restore" even care as long as it
can the archive file?
