Just curious: is LaView H264.D1 (8 channel box) in that category? Or is this just too low end?

All of this is using retail (to the broadcast industry) equipment which each one has a steep sticker price but will probably cost you less than the equipment required for dealing with 30 MPEG streams on a server.
